In the Tapajós river basin, the Teles Pires river has been impacted by the construction of four hydroelectric plants (Sinop, Colíder, Teles Pires, and São Manoel). Since 2008, fishermen, settlers, and indigenous communities threatened by these projects have been fighting for justice and accountability for the rights violations caused by the construction of the hydroelectric dams in the region.
